Day Four

Well today seemed to be “mode of transportation” day. Our host family drove us to our usual meeting place which from there, we took the Seoul subway. It was quite interesting. I think we were more impressed by the cleanliness than anything.
In the morning, we learned to do a Korean Folklore dance…. And I think Liam has it on video – I just might have to do some serious editing, and I can only imagine how graceful I was….LOL. It was a lot of fun.
We had lunch – Pizza and coke. I tried a quail egg which was yummy and pumpkin salad (like a mashed potatoe type salad). It must have also been a pumpkin day too…. Since we had pumpkin soup with our breakfast.
This afternoon, we learned to do “Korean Paper crafts”, and Liam and I made a decorative box. It was a lot of fun working together as a mother and son team. Liam’s friend Leevi won the prize for best effort – therefore winning a very cool traditional Korean mask. Liam said we won too… since we had fun, AND we get to keep the box….lol.
We were given some free time at an upscale shopping centre were we picked up a few souvineers. Sophie and Meena…. Liam hand picked both of yours – and he is convinced you will really like them! I’m sure you will. We also picked up a little something for Auntie Patti, Uncle David, Grandma and Luke, Sarah and Becca.
We made our way back thru the subway were we then met up with our Home Stay families and went to dinner at another Korean style Chinese restaurant – we ate squid and more quail eggs. Liam’s favorite was the Korean noodles in black bean sauce. I can see I will have to brush up on my Korean cooking!
Later this evening, we when for a drive and walked around the huge park that surrounds the Seoul World Cup Stadium. It was truly amazing that in a city this size, you can not only find such an amazing spot in the middle of town, but you actually feel very comfortable simply walking around.
It has been a very long day, although not as busy as the others. Tomorrow we leave our host families, and begin our journey outside of the Seoul area. I think we are in for a four hour drive – or so.
Anyhow…. Hope everyone is doing well back home. We are still without internet tonight, so hopefully we can get these messages posted, along with some pictures to you very soon.

(sorry, no pictures for days 4, 5 or 6 until tomorrow)
Talk to you soon!
